Is Mother Nature playing tricks on me again?

Shadows dance and move around,
My heaving breathing being drowned out by the rustling leaves,
Once in the trees,
But now lie on the ground.
I don't have far to go,
But the darkness only grows,
And the more I stay,
The more my mind plays,
And I already know,
